Current collaborators
Department of Human Services and Community Leadership,
Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois
Top researches from the Department lead SILC's consumer information, training and outreach projects and support the engineering design team in determining necessary functionality for smart home device enhancements to better serve senior homeowners.
School of Technology & the Center for Clean Energy Research & Education,
Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois
The Center is an applied engineering research organization housed in a 5,000 square foot laboratory supporting the design and development of innovative, sustainable energy technologies and systems and computer applications to optimize enterprise and consumer energy efficiency. SILC affiliate researchers at the Center have expertise in the design of biomedical devices, computer information systems, user ergonomics, mobile applications, rapid prototyping, and human-machine interface design and accessibility.
Indoor Climate Research & Training Group, Applied Research Institute,
at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
The Indoor Climate Research & Training (ICRT) Group conducts both research and training. ICRT provides all training for the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) in support of its Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP), including training for energy auditors, retrofit installers, and quality control inspectors. The IHWAP program covers all of Illinois'
102 counties. The research component of the program has focused on measured energy use and multi-contaminant indoor air quality in homes, with some projects having linkage to health outcomes. Field-based research on various aspects of indoor air quality has been ongoing among ICRT staff for over 30 years. ICRT maintains a 6,700 square foot training facility on the Urbana-Champaign campus.
Center for REALTOR Technologies - CRT Laboratory, National Association of REALTORS
CRT Labs is a research group operated by the National Association of REALTORS' Center for REALTOR Technology. The primary goal of CRT is to track emerging technologies that will affect real estate, educate its members, advocate for the proper use of technology, and innovate when there is a gap between what is needed and what is available. In 2015, CRT established the R&D lab to investigate smart home/internet of things devices, renewable energy, urban agriculture and building materials, as well as other emerging technology as they become evident. CRT is working with non-governmental organizations, vendors, national laboratories, universities and government agencies to help promote NAR as an agent for technology research and innovation. The laboratory is located at NAR headquarters in Chicago.
